I've communicated with Lorna about the oil in the recipes, and the oil is only necessary if you're using a jiggle top PC, which are more prone to foaming. She said that it's not necessary to use oil in the higher end PC's like the Kuhn or the Farberware.

Her Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure is the absolute best PC vegan cookbook out there, it's my Bible.
