Hi Lynn. I use the inserts for vegys. This week I made sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, spinach and green beans. I also made apples. They were fabulous with some added cinnamon and Splenda. I make rice in the double boiler insert from my set of Revereware. It's round and high. I can't make a huge portion. 1 1/2 cups of brown rice, 1 3/4 cups of water- 20 mins high pressure, 20 mins natural release. The rice turns out with a really pleasant chewy consistency. I also make rice pilaf from West Nile. Add the mix with 1 1/2 c of water, no butter or oil. 5 mins high, 15 mins natural release. I know that's white rice but it's a big hit once in a while with us. Always put 2 cups of water in bottom and use the trivet. Good luck!
