Subject: Does a rice insert need a cover?

Hi, I'm new here and have been reading all the past posts. It is never made clear, however, if the insert that you cook rice and double boiler stuff in NEEDS to be covered? That Ohsawa Pot has a lid.... but do all the other things you all use instead need to have a lid, too???

Will the pressure steam inside the PC add too much moisture if there is no lid? Also, the steaming basket insert.... does that sit up out of any water? Can you tell... I'm new at this??
