We eat our grits gritty. (c: Yes, I cook them almost every day in the microwave. My DH thinks grits are a breakfast staple.

I often use my 4 cup glass measuring cup to cook 1-2 cups of grits, or a fairly deep glass bowl.

We use a 4-1 ratio of water to grits, and then cook until the water is absorbed. Even on the stovetop, it only takes a max of 10 minutes. If you are cooking that long, do you have to use a lot more water?

Our grits aren't "creamy" like cream of wheat, but they aren't flakey like rice. It's more like the consistency of creamed potatoes when they are really hot, and then sets up like cement when they cool. GRIN.
