what I mean is we don't need to actually submerge it, but sometimes it'll be in the sink waiting to be cleaned and there'll be water around that part and I always rinse the bottom. I do make sure it's dry before I put it back in the main part. an advantage to the programmable is that while I was typing the above paragraph, my pc beeped to let me know that the soup I put up earlier with a one hour delay, was done
