I just did the same thing. I've since read that a heat diffuser should be used underneath a pressure cooker for rice and other easily burned items. I'll try using an insert inside and cooking the double boiler way. What are other great ways to cook rice? Most rice cookers have teflon coated aluminum bowls so I hate to use mine due to the chemicals( the Wall Street Journal just had another article on the dangers of teflon). Meanwhile, I'm soaking my cooker in baking soda. Next I'll buy powdered Cascade, then try vinegar. This is extremely frustrating. The cookbooks should not say that rice can be cooked in a pressure cooker using the standard method. Thanks for the input!
