I've just made the Cuban Black Beans from the Sass book, p. 194, and think they have a really nice flavour. I added the green olives, 2 roma tomatoes, and the green onion. They were quite soupy, but tasty. We also tried potatoes cooked and mashed with whole garlic cloves and fresh grated horseradish, and they were yummy.
