We wore our jackets the whole time we were in the Keys, except for the first afternoon (Sunday, March 30) when we went out on the boat and snorkeled on the reef. I got to swallow a nice share of sea water (grin) and see some gorgeous fish up close, including a 6 foot nurse shark.

We actually wimped out of the tent after the second day of gale-force winds, and moved into a little dive with an efficiency kitchen. The room with the kitchen was CHEAPER than our KOA campsite for the tent!!! So, we stayed for two nights, then moved on up the state to Hillsborough River State Park and three days at Sun-N-Fun, the Experimental Aviation Association's spring convention in Lakeland. The weather was PERFECT for camping in Lakeland, and the airshows were perfect. I made up some great soups in the evening, terrific breakfasts in the morning, and we actually didn't have much trouble finding food at SnF--I expected to starve, but there was a great Bean Taco Salad and the ever-present Strawberry Shortcake for a treat. GRIN. Plus I suppose I drank about 10 gallons of lemonade. (c:

We had a lovely lunch with the ladies of the 99th and the Womens Airforce Service Pilots of WWII on Thursday. My daughter Maggie (who is 10) has been emailing Ethel Meyer Finley, president of the WASPs organization, since last year's SnF, and is probably the WASP's biggest fan. So, Mrs. Finley invited our family to attend their luncheon, where about 18 WASPs told their stories, and we enjoyed a big salad, fruit plate and delicious brownies. Oh, and more lemonade!

We had a great vacation, but I'll need a week or two to recouperate from it. LOL!
