I bought a stove top a few years ago and it had no instructions, this was pre-internet for me. I never used the thing but it moved to 3 different countried with us. I finally put it in the goodwill box and after a few months got the itching to try again and after doing some research thought I might could handle the electric one. I do enjoy this appliance more than I ever thought I would! So, I guess I would say I choes electric because of my fears, whether they were realistic or not! Myra S
