I made the Lentil Stew from the McDougall 12 day book in my new Magefesa 8 qt. It is very good! I used hulled barley, not knowing there was a difference between that and pearled until I had it in the pot, then looked up the times in my Lorna Sass book (also new! - and I love it, too!) Pearled goes for about 20, hulled goes for 35 to 40, no big deal. I was worried that my lentils would be mushy. In the end, I figured so what? So, I cooked the whole mess at high pressure for 35 minutes and it is thick and perfect. I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't grate the carrot, I chopped it. I would like more tomato flavor in this, maybe, or maybe some red wine instead of the vinegar. Would wine in cooking be McDougall? Maybe I could put some in and simmer it a bit longer.

Otherwise, this is perfect. My Barley Loving husband will really dig into this!
