with the food, yours is safe. i know mine (i have a fagor 6-qt) can touch the food, esp if it bubbles up a lot, like with pasta or rice or something else, and they recommend that i clean it and then add a little oil to it so it doesn't stick. since yours specifically says you don't have to worry about it for five years, i'd say woohoo! and cook away :)
