I made your split pea soup recipe. It was great! I didn't end up reading the second part of your recipe that said you cook approx. 25 minutes from the time that you put the lid on, so I had to look at my timer and figure out the remaining time. (I thought it was 25 minutes after it came to high temp.) Anyway, it turned out great. I think I still cooked it a few minutes too long, but it was still good. I put the lid on when the water in the bottom of the pan was boiling, not in the insert. I had already put the insert in the pan, so it was a little difficult to tell if the water was boiling under the insert, lol. Is that what you do? Also, I looked at some recipes that said to saute something in oil/water first before adding the other ingredients. I guess you just ignore that when you are using the insert? Do you ever cook without the insert now? I am so glad I purchased the 10 liter, especially if I use the insert. I'm going to make Sabrina's Lentil Soup recipe next! Oh, do you take apart the top main control valve each time you clean it? I took it only partially apart. I didn't have any problems maintaining the high pressure. It was easy. Also, I love that the Fissler automatically vents like you described. It's a really nice pot! I'm really excited about cooking now! Thanks for all your help, Goldie :-)
