I think I'm going to try using it with water first. I'm scared LOL! BTW, the insert that you recommended fits perfectly! Anyway, I wanted to know if you could post a few things. How long do you cook your split pea soup in the 10 liter with the insert? Do I bring the water to a boil that's in the bottom of the pan and then put the lid on? What about the water that's in the insert--do I have to wait for that to boil before I put the lid on? Also, if you have time, will you post a few things like approximately how long you cook brown rice with the insert and also whole dry beans. Thanks in advance, Goldie
