The non-perforated insert will be a nice piece to have when you don't need the size of a large insert. It is lighter & has built in stainless handles just like the perforated model.

Also, your Fissler should come with a tripod as standard equipment. It is supplied to support the perforated & unperforated inserts about 1 3/4" off of the bottom of the pot. The only difference between the two inserts is that one has holes in it and one does not. They are both about 2" deep. The one with holes may be better for steaming because it would not collect water. I use the same tripod to place the Farberware pot on top of so you would not use the unperforated insert to support it.

As far as using an inverted insert as a platform to support a bowl, it would probably work but the tripod is better suited because it would not interfere with boiling action. Also, it would not rattle with the force of boiling water trying to lift it up. (a friend has an Oshawa pot & the thing constantly rattles from boiling water)

I bet you're going to wonder how you ever managed without a pc. Hope yours comes soon. :-)
