I believe I read that Sabrina says her rice comes out perfect without an insert. Do you think this has anything to do with the actual difference in size of the cookers, a difference in the bottom of the cookers, a difference in the temperatures, or just personal preference?

Also, I noticed that a small amount of salt is included in some of the posted recipes for brown rice, etc. Is that a necessary ingredient or can I skip that? I have never used salt to cook brown rice or oatmeal, so I don't want to start doing that if it's not needed.

Thanks in advance. I am going to order my pressure cooker next week!
