I would add ingredients to rapidly boiling water, close the lid and immediately press the valve down to purge oxygen out of the pc for 1-2 minutes. If you got the food to a rapidly boiling state before shutting the lid it might splash food particles on the surface which seals the pc. You might want to try it to see if that occurs. If not then you can seal the pc after the water & food is boiling. Please do post as to how this works for you. Good luck.
