if you are really worried about it, you can give him some clean spoons to play with while you eat. I wouldn't be afraid to let him get traces/tastes of the food. I never had to look into solids as any significant part of the baby's diet while my dc were so young so I don't know enough about that to comment. Although, I gave rice first (usually) because it mixed up smoother than anything else I had access to.

Seperately. He is too young for this yet, but when he gets older you would be wise to let situations come up that allow him to learn what "no" means. My dd is taking a college teaching course and is being taught that it is "negative" to say any kind of "no" to a child. One should distract, "give choices", prevent situations from happening, etc. I think that is cruel. Children are much happier knowing where reasonable boundries are. And it is far better for them to learn self control a little at a time starting with something simple like "no touch" than to let them grow thinking everything they can see/think of to do is okay to do.
