if he is bringing it up, you should definately talk about it. Espcially if he is afraid of the library or girls, he is involved, and you should talk about it with him and with the school. It is appropriate to make an appointment to talk to the principal. I'm sure they won't tell you names or anything, but they should tell you if this is true or a nasty rumor, and if it is true what is being done about it.
