My son was born Friday morning and all is well. :) He is still intact and I don't see any reason to remove the foreskin. I read the article Jen posted and while I think some of it is a little far-fetched (I don't think there's some big conspiracy of doctors out to harvest foreskins for medical research) most of it was very informative and interesting. I have never even seen an uncircumsized guy, despite several trips to nudist beaches growing up, so it's a bit of a learning curve for me. I told my husband when we were still in the hospital that it was not going to be done and he just said "OK" and that was the end of it. My MIL gave me a bit of a hard time last night and I listened to her until I realized that she didn't even know how they did it or how the uncircumsized organ moves/functions. How can she give me advice if she doesn't know what she's talking about? We named him Daedalus (DAY-dah-luss, father of Icarus, greek mythology) or just Daed (rhymes with 'jade') for short. I'm creeped out enough by the umbilical cord, I don't want to put another wound on him. His big sister Freya (2 next month) is absolutely thrilled and a little too possessive about "her" brother. :)
