yeah, I'd say if you guys can't come up with a coherent set of ethics and philosophy with which to raise your kids, those are going to be some confused kids and unhappy parents. The obvious, it seems to me, is that most of us come from meat -eating cultures and we find ways to honor some parts of those cultures while leaving the animal cruelty behind. When I think of New Orleans ( and part of my family is Cajun) I think of music, music, music. French language. spices - I've veganized many Cajun recipes. Did i mention music? You can honor New Orleans culture without being Catholic, or practicing voodoo, so why can't you honor it without eating animal products? However, i've definitely shown my own bias in the above. The important take-home to me is: in any relationship, the big question is what is and is not a deal-breaker, and how the two people can discuss conflicts and reach a compromise that both are ok with. THAT is what will tell you how future conflicts will go for you.
