I agree that the tsunami disaster has briefly brought out the best in people, and that is a cause for celebration. It is all the more important to celebrate it since, once the news media stop playing dramatic video of crashing waves, generosity will fade back to complacency. There is the equivalent of one tsunami every 18 days in the AIDS pandemic, yet almost no one cares. There is one "tsunami" avery 4 days due to hunger. How many "tsunamis" every year are due to war? And those are all things we have some control over, unlike earthquakes. I know, I shouldn't let it get me down, but it is hard for me not to think that the world's response to the tsunami is a blip to disguise the real lack of caring. Keith
