Carmen, I really appreciate your rebuttal to this post. After seeing IIN praised by a few other RDs and LNs, it was surprising to see this post about IIN being a complete scam.

I agree with your point on Mr. Rosenthal's personal and professional endeavors outside IIN have NOTHING to do with the for-profit school that he owns.
I earned a Bachelors from a public university and met with the acting dean a few times. I can say for sure she had zero interest in my major, her values were not in line or relatable to mine at all. She was running a school and business! Not pursuing a design degree (my major at that school).

My big thing is, if the shoe fits wear it. My goal is to be a fitness and nutrition coach. I am working on my own website so I have internet marketing on my side. I am a PT with a varying schedule. I geographically do not live near a university and do not have the means to uproot my family just so I can spend 4 years holed up studying aging research, then possibly uproot again for the internship, so I can take a test for the letters after my name. This program is geared towards my goals and gives me the flexibility I need, so why throw away the opportunity to reach my dream?

In fact there are plenty of people who took the route of university/4 year degree to work in the nutrition field but once again they wind up working a job or running their own consulting business that does not require national certification (I say once again because I do believe our traditional education system has this affect on majority)

Anyway, I have a lot more to say about 4 year universities, student loans and how I feel robbed , so I will end with this

I hope to hear more positive aspects of IIN rather than "for profit = scam" because for some of us, these educational outlets are the only institutions offering adult learners a true opportunity to continue their endeavor towards the "American dream" or dreams in general. We all want it, but so many qualified, creative people are stuck at a desk manipulating excel sheets or answering phones, and I can not and will not do that.
