I understand your reluctance to consider an ADA-approved education. However, bear in mind that ADA has been issuing position papers on veg'n nutrition written by veg'n dietitians since 1987. Not everyone who is a member of ADA toes the company line.

I don't appreciate many aspects of the ADA's policies. However, they are the recognized standard, and until we are on the inside as decision-makers, we will always be on the outside shouting in, as we have been until now. The dominant paradigm won't shift as long as the decision-makers remain of the same ideology. The only way to change the decisions is to change the demographics of the decision-makers.

I think the most important question for you is:
"Is there enough of a market in your city who agrees with a holistic approach?" If you think you can make a living without a recognized credential, then by all means go for it.

In my reading of the market, many of the veg'n/holistic believers don't want to/can't pay for services anyway, and there's simply not enough of the ones who can pay to earn a living. One must tip toe up to mainstream in order to make a living; however one doesn't necessarily have to step in the mainstream's poo pile.
