Jeff,
During almost 30 years in public education, I've had time to see the results of learning or the lack of it...so I was thinking. While listening to your presentation, I started wishing our family consumer science teacher who devotes nine weeks of her class to nutrition could show this in class. There has to be way to get healthier eating messages into public schools.
What do you suggest?...keeping in mind that our schoolwide health improvement was to sell only diet soft drinks in our vending machines and to add granola bars to the chips and candy machines. Could conference presenters donate materials to randomly chosen schools or have contests for materials or maybe better yet, have an expenses-paid contest for FCS teachers to attend? Could a deal be made so that those teachers have access online to conference materials? Again...what do you suggest?
