I would recommend that if you were to consume nuts and/or nut butters that you look for the ones that are raw and/or dry roasted and with no added salt, sugar, and/or added oils.

It is true that heating can have some detrimental effects on fats, and most nuts are around 70% fat. So in this case, you may be better off getting them in the raw state, or minimizing the use of any that are dry roasted.

However, I do not recommend anyone consume a large amounts of nuts, so, this would mitigate any potential problem if they were heated.

I would be more concerned with the added salts, sugars and hydrogenated oils than whether the nut butter was raw or not.
