| | Subject: | question about values in USDA database | |
Date: | November 11, 2007 at 1:53 pm PST |
hi, i use the online USDA database to track my diet. apparently, there is a figure there for % refuse and it states that "nutrient values and weights given for edible portion only" does that mean i should be dividing the results by 1-(%refuse) to get actual figures for my portions, or does the "value for 100 grams" mean "value for 100 grams of edible substance"? this is what i've been doing so far, since it seems a little far-fetched to me that e.g. 150g of spinach would have almost 6g of protein. anyway, sorry for the stupid question. nice forum & website btw. thanks, peter
