i mean that which is
attractive to the senses,
able to be procured using the bodily equipment of the being in question,
in a raw
fresh whole state
grown in healthy conditions
able to be adequately chewed and or digested
of low toxicity for the being in question
of the proper scale to the eater

those sorts of things.

as opposed to - broccoli has X nutrients so i think i should eat it. even though i don't really like broccoli. or, kale is high in X, so i should eat that. etc.
