I love the your tips on how to use olive oil. I use it to lubricate garden tools. Many nutritionists state that we should be eating so called 'healthy fats' of which olive oil is the most heavily promoted. It seems that in analysing the Mediterranean diet olive oil a 'secret ingredient' of the diet. My feeling is that the consumption of whole foods especially vegetables is a more important aspect of the diet. The Mediterranean diet is compared to the SAD so just about any other diet will compare favourably to SAD. People often ask me what I eat and when they ask about olive oil I say I don't consume it (or any other vegetable oils). They then say but don't you need fat. It seems most people aren't aware of the amount of fat even in a teaspoon of oil. I stick to avocados, raw unsalted nuts, tahini, etc. The other thing you may not have mentioned is that cooking without oil makes washing and cleaning so much easier.
