Subject:         unfermented soy generally bad for you?

Michael Pollan has convinced my wife (through reading In Defense of Food) that unfermented soy is dangerous. I'm aware of the problems of using unfermented soy milk in infant formula or for young children, but wasn't aware that unfermented soy in any form was dangerous for adults. Anybody have counterbalancing arguments? If not, does anybody want several pounds of TVP and several packages of frozen edamame?
