My husband cannot eat any citrus, so is taking one 500 mg. tablet of Ascorbic Acid daily to ensure that he is meeting his Vitamin C requirements. I know that this amount is above the RDA, but we cannot find tablets in a smaller dose. My question is this: will the ascorbic acid cause his blood ph to become more acidic and therefore not healthy (e.g. cause calcium to leave bones, increase risk of cancer, etc.).
