Many people say many things, especially in regard to health.

However, in regard to whole grains, when consumed as part of a healthy low fat diet, plant based diet, have consistently been shown to to lower risk for most disease including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, inflammation, insulin resistance and many cancers.
