In general, I never recommend anyone counting their calories as a method of losing weight. Learning and understanding the principles of calorie density (explained below in this forum and at my forum on the McDougall site) is a much better method.

As long as someone is consuming enough calories, eating whole natural foods and not restricting their diet to mostly (or only) fruit, they will get in enough protein.
