They are enzymes made by the bacteria in our large intestines that digest the oligosaccharide sugars from beans. If the enzyme is present in our stomach (from taking beano), the sugars can be digested before they reach the large intestine, thus reducing or preventing gas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beano_(dietary_supplement) I was just researching this today! But I'm worried about taking any supplement daily. Is this safe?
