Hello Jeff! I have often read here and other places that the natural enzymes present in plant foods do not contribute to their digestion upon entry into the stomach. The enzymes are for the plant, not us, etc. I'm a little confused as a lot of health professionals recommend taking digestive enzymes to help overall digestion, and Dr. McDougall has stated that taking the Beano product can help digest beans and reduce gasiness. I'm a little bit confused about the whole enzyme issue. Are the enzymes present in Beano and other digestive enzyme supplements not the same as the enzymes present in plant foods? Are they instead replicas (or whatever) of enzymes created by our bodies? Thanks!
