Interesting to see a key difference between McDougall's "Maximum Weight Loss Plan" and Novick/Pritikin (and Fuhrman) approach.

MWLP: "Fruit, such as apples, bananas, berries, grapefruit, oranges, peaches, and pears. (Limited to two servings per day.)"

Novick: “If I’d heard it once, I’ve heard it a MILLION times – people think, thanks to bogus information in the media, that fruit is fattening. AAARGH!!!”

Pritikin Newsletter: "More and more research is finding that a daily diet rich in fruit works wonders not only for weight control, as we’ve reported in past issues of this newsletter, but also for protection against the #1 killer of both men and women in America – heart disease."

Fuhrman seems to agree: "Eat as much fruit as you want, but at least four fresh fruits daily."
