Subject:         Jeff - I'm always feeling spacey, lacking mental clarity,

Hey Jeff, hope all is well.

I've been a vegetarian for just over 2 years and a vegan for about 1.5. For the past 6-8 months or so i have been struggling with a constant "spacey" feeling. i CAN focus and think, it's just a kind of always present out-of-it kind of feeling.

I've tried doing several variations of the diets many people (Ornish, Fuhrman, etc.) recommend. Originally when I got into being a vegan, I experimented for several months with a raw diet and unknowingly was eating very high levels of fat. I've felt much better bringing fat down to around 10% or so of calories and am trying to keep it low and tracking it carefully on the cronometer.

However, the problem is still here and it has led me to keep trying new things like bringing fat up to 20%, nixing gluten (which i like), eating more fruits, eating less fruits, eating breakfast, not eating breakfast, smaller meals, bigger meals, etc. and I can't quite get a handle on this. It has me seriously questioning if I don't need some sort of animal foods.

i take b12 supps every so often and don't feel a difference when i take them (i'm not sure if i'm supposed to). I was also wondering if I might have some sort of hormone imbalance?

I'm a 27 year old male, 6'0 140 lbs, less than 4% bodyfat (according to the gym calipers). Lift weights 2-3x per week, jog, etc.

Anyway Jeff, i was wondering if you have any experience with this sort of thing and can shed some light. I understand you can't really give me specific advice on this board but if you've seen or experienced something similar that would be great to know.

I really appreciate any help!
