Dear Jeff, thanks for your detailed comment. I understand now that supplementing B12 is individual and not so straight-forward as I thought. Since, thanks to folks like Dr. McDougall, Dr. Campbell, Dr. Barnard and others I have already learned quite a lot of plant-based diets, I will gladly read the article when I find the time to do so. Since (not only in your mail) often "[those who] follow a stict vegan diet" are adressed: have animal products so high levels of B12 that occasional diary or meat intake, say once a week or less, would provide all B12 necessary? If not so, shouldn't those following "nearly vegan diets" also be careful? I'm just curious since me little three year old sweetheart seldomly likes meat, fish and dairy, probably not more often than a few times per week and only in little quantities. Did I get you right that B12-level and MMA suffice to rule out B12-deficiency? I am sure that when visiting an MD to test B12, he/she will be overstrained about what to do. :) Jeff, I appreciate the work you're doing, your humour and your expertise. Thanks again. All my best wishes, Andy
