BTW, thank you so much for running this forum! I was recently reading the website of someone who sells her dietary advice and belongs to the Weston Price group. On her website, she references various studies that support her contentions. I've listed a few of her references below. I'm not knowledgeable enough to analyze the studies myself for flaws. Is anyone systematically analyzing these types of studies that are being used to attack a healthy plant-based diet? I'd like to see such an analysis. I would love to know how to respond when people throw out such "evidence." I imagine there's MUCH more evidence for the kind of diet we favor (I have Michael Greger's excellent new DVD's on nutrition research) but it'd be helpful to know the flaws in these other studies. Thank you, Sammy Elderly people with low cholesterol die twice as often from a heart attack than did those with high cholesterol. Increasing butter, cheese and beef intake may improve your health. A review of 21 studies on diet and heart disease reports not a single death has been prevented by low-fat diets. British Medical Journal, 2002;324:238. Early studies, including the 1998 Second International Conference on Fats and Oil Consumption in Health and Disease reported low-fat diets actually induced arteriosclerosis. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,1998; 67(suppl);497S-499S; American Journal of Medicine, 1998;105:58S-62S. Reply To This Post Return to Posts Index VegSource Home
