Hi Laura, If you follow this forum and my posts and discussions, you will see that I have not made any such recommendations in regard to eggwhites or anything else. I am a health advocate and not a vegan advocate. Veganism is a "philosophy" that has dietary restrictions and is not a set of guidelines and recommendations for optimal health and nutrition, though some vegans will also follow health guidelines. My guess is, a "little" bit of most anything consumed on an occasional basis, is not going to harm or hurt anyone. Most of the problem with why people are sick is because they consume "lots" of "lots" of different things that in excess can be harmful, as a regular part of their diet. Now, I am not sure why you are choosing to go vegan, but if you are going vegan, then that alone has addressed your question. Egg whites would not be vegan. From a purely health perspective, I know of no evidence that an egg white on occasion is going to hurt anyone. Both the Pritikin program and the Ornish program have published lot of research on the effectiveness of their programs and both allow for a very limited use of egg whites. The problem for most people that I see all the time, is that as soon as you allow a "little" of something, then soon find themselves overdoing it and/or misunderstanding the difference between what may be allowed in small amounts and what is recommended to form the basis of their diet. In Health Jeff
