Greetings!
>>We've been blown away by your lecture. Pierre & I have been
vegetarian for 25 years (vegan for last 7) we make most of our
food from scratch (a broad based plant diet) paying attention to fat
sources, salt and sugar.
Sounds great!!

Usuing your ratio of 1gm fat = 9 calories we divided the # of fat
Cal by the total # of serving Cal & multiplied by 100 -
27/190x100=14.2% of calories from fat. Is this formula
right?
Correct. They dont give you "calories from fat" on your labels so
you have to multiply grams of fat by 9 to get calories from fat.
There is another way, but i think it is more complicated. If the
amount of total fat per servings is more than 2 grams for a 100
calorie serving, it doesnt pass. This is a simple way except that if
the food isnt in a 100 calorie serving, you than have to do math
again. In the above case...3 grams per 190 calories. If i am
allowing 2 grams per 100 calories than I would allow 3.8 per 190
calories (2 x 1.9) and so yes, the 3 grams would make it.
Personally, havving looked at the two systems, I choose the first
one. Multiply the grams of fat by 9 then see if that is 20% or
below.
( By this point, I am sure we have lost everyone who doesnt like
math, hence, why I try to keep it simple)

The do make an unsalted one though not sure they send it to
Canada.
>>Thanks for looking out for us!
Thank You
