Jeff,

My mom recently cooked some dried beans that were delicious...so good in fact that I asked what she put in them. She replied, "Liquid smoke." I got the bottle out and here is its nutritional facts:
Figaro Mesquite Liquid Smoke and Marinade
Cal: 0; Sodium 55 mg; Serv size: 1 TBS; Ingredients: Water, Mesquite smoke flavor, hydrolyzed soy protein, sugar, color caramel, spice.

First, is this product carcinogenic? If not, is it an "okay" product every one in a while? (I don't think so but my mom is hoping it is.)
