>>>I have never had a weight problem before. I weigh 95 pounds, which is healthy for me, and have ever since I was a teenager; I'm turning 50 now. The only concern is the family history - women in my family typically do not have weight issues early in life, but in middle age they suddenly put on tons of weight and wind up obese.

If you do not have a problem, consume healthy foods and are healthy, I do not see the problem. Your family history sounds like most Americans, they get lazy, inactive and start eating more, as the food supply became more dense. The only think you have to do differently is maintain what is working for you.

>>The other problem is that I know my habits have to change. I've always eaten healthy, but amply; thin as I am, I'm used to packing away around 3000 calories a day.

I feel like I am "missing" something in our communication. :)

I do not see how it is possible for someone to consume 3000 calories of healthy food in and of itself, let alone do it, and remain thin unless they do an enormous amount of exercise, which, would not be the best approach nor would it be one they could most likely maintain as they age.

>> SO I will take your advice and weigh frequently, and see where i can find the right balance.

I am not advising anyone to weigh frequently, nor have I suggested that to you. I recommend you consume a healthy whole foods, low calorie dense, high nutrient dense diet and maintain a healthy level of activity. Weighing occasionally is fine, to see how you are doing and to be able to catch any weight gain before it gets out of hand.

Regards
Jeff
