If you do not have a problem, consume healthy foods and are healthy, I do not see the problem. Your family history sounds like most Americans, they get lazy, inactive and start eating more, as the food supply became more dense. The only think you have to do differently is maintain what is working for you.

I feel like I am "missing" something in our communication. :)

I do not see how it is possible for someone to consume 3000 calories of healthy food in and of itself, let alone do it, and remain thin unless they do an enormous amount of exercise, which, would not be the best approach nor would it be one they could most likely maintain as they age.

I am not advising anyone to weigh frequently, nor have I suggested that to you. I recommend you consume a healthy whole foods, low calorie dense, high nutrient dense diet and maintain a healthy level of activity. Weighing occasionally is fine, to see how you are doing and to be able to catch any weight gain before it gets out of hand.
