While this board is about reading labels and packaged products... I
will be happy to give you my guidelines for healthy food choices.

IF you excuse the non vegetarian pun...

I like to teach people to "fish" and not give them a "fish".

My goal is always to help people by giving them guidelines to help
them make better choices in their life and live a healthier life.

A healthy diet should consist of all (or mostly all) whole unrefined
unprocessed plant foods, consumed as close to their natural state
as possible, with the emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables.
In regard to healthiest foods, i would say "greens" (from the garden
and not from a green drink or supplement), berries (and not some
rare form in an expensive juice), and beans.

Within these guidelines are opportunites for lots of variety and
options.

I dont give out specifics in regard to menus/recipes/etc as I want
everyone to have the freedom to include their favorite foods with-
in the guidelines and not limit it to the few foods that can be listed
in a menu. I have found that specific menus tend to be too
limiting. Then people want to follow them to the exclusion of
otherwise healthy choices or personal favorites.

Where as I find guidelines to be liberating. You dont have to eat
kale, but a wide variety of greens is important. You dont have to
eat acaia or goji berries, but a wide variety of berries and fruit is
important. You dont have to eat soy, but a wide varity of beans is
important.

BTW, my own personal label reading guidelines (which I do not
insist everyone else follow) is...

IF I pick up any product or item in a store and it has a label on it....
I PUT IT BACK!!! :)
