Subject: using chewing tobacco to get off cigarettes

I have not had a cigarette for 10 days. It may not sound like much but for someone who smoked 3 packs a day for nine years (and works at a smoke shop no less!)I think it's quite a feat.
However I've been using chew to stave off the nicotine withdrawl that we all fear so much. I don't want to get addicted to this junk though.
Has anyone used this method? I know it's not the smartest idea but it's a lot cheaper than the patch or any of the other quit smoking stuff that's out there.
Have any of you used this method to quit or heard about it?

Oh yeah, I've been running two miles everyday since I quit and feel great.
