It's probably a combination of both. Pasteurization ruptures bacterial cell bodies in milk which releases histamines--thus the allergy. It also kills lactase enzymes naturally present in milk that would help you digest the lactose. The problem with milk isn't milk--it's the milk industry, the processing, and the quality control standards. Do some research on raw (unpasteurized, unhomogenized) milk--the only real milk there is! B
