The only way to diagnose an allergy is to go to a doctor and get an allergy screening test. They inject common or suspected allergens under your skin and wait to see if they produce an allergic reaction.
It would be easier to answer your question if you told us what your symptoms were before you quit consuming dairy products. Common symptoms of lactose intolerance include bloating, nausea, stomach cramps, etc.
Lactose intolerance is much more common than actual allergies to dairy. In fact, lactose intolerance is the normal condition for adults. The ability to tolerate lactose into adulthood is an abnormality found mostly in people of European ancestry. Even those people eventually lose their ability to digest lactose and become lactose intolerant.
