Hey. I'm a 20 yr old college student in NY. I've got some strange looks about my vegetarianism/veganism. I've found that it's usually the worst on dates, or telling family about it. Most people think it's strange. I've gotten to the point where I just don't care anymore. Let them think what they will. Anyone who is legitimately your friend won't give you trouble. As for the problem with socialization, I know what you mean. I try to eat before or suggest a place where I know there will be vegan options. As for "grabbing pizza", as long as you're ordering it, you can always ask for no cheese, I actually have gotten to the point where I prefer no cheese pizzas with vegetables. I know I just completely simplified the problem, as the social awkwardness associated with turning down food at a host's house and the like can be pretty intense. The best advice I can give you is just to do what you can and don't stress. I'm still waiting for that point where I can find a Vegan to date and solve allot of these problems. I'll keep looking. Best of luck.
