Hi, I don't know if you'd like a non-vegan view but I'm a meat eater with close vegan friends and I could never imagine life without them! They inform me (hey, perhaps that's why I've found my way to this site while looking for non-dairy cake recipes!) and for the past five years I've stopped buying animal-based clothes and materials so perhaps I'm getting there VERY slowly but surely.

But most importantly they have always strongly said no-one need ever justify their lifestyle choices - I don't need to justify why I eat meat but don't buy leather or suede and if I'm challenged I merely say I'm working my way there sooner or later. I think Brenda's attitude is really cool and definately agree with her.

Judging by my friends' experiences, they seem to enjoy a healthy attitude toward veganism, and enjoy a small but active community in this part of England, often arranging nights. It might help to find out if there are any other vegans in your area, and perhaps include vegetarians, try to get a group together, and get yourself on the web. An idea would be to review restaruants, cafes, shops etc. that would cater for a vegan lifestyle so other people could check these places out.

Hope I've helped!!
