I remember from the first day my daughter hit kindergarten, there was pressure one her to conform to the "normal" eating habits. She was called a vampire for drinking tomato juice, many of her lunch items were stolen by kids on the federal school lunch program. It's hard to behave and grow on surplus commodities. I would have been happy to take a turn one day a week in helping to prepare fresh foods to supplement or replace the standard meals.
