You are right about needing to read labels ... whey is found in so very many products ... crackers, breads (in our small rural community, there is NO store bought bread available without whey ... I make my own).

I wasn't aware parkay was dairy free ... as you've found out, just about every commercial margarine DOES contain dairy. Earth Balance is another completely dairy free spread ... and REALLY tasty. No trans fats either.

Another hidden place that dairy shows up is in many soy and rice "cheeses". Most contain casein (in order to make them spreadable and meltable).

I have sent you some recipes for some really tasty cheese replacements. What other sorts of recipe ideas are you looking for?
